The “Save Draft” button has probably saved my job several times at Make It Work.
I’m opinionated, and I expect you to be as well. I have a hard time respecting people who don’t have views, and more-so if they have them but aren’t willing to stand up for them. Joining my college’s debate team changed my life- I went from someone who knew little about politics and cared less to an enthusiastic voter who knew how to persuade, and more importantly, had the will to do so.
I like to think I’m open minded, but I still get angry, annoyed, and just generally peeved from time to time. The only solution I’ve found that remotely works is to shut down. Not stop the argument or discussion, but just chill the heck out for five minutes… after that I’m fine and can come back to the table. It took some ugly arguments to figure this out about myself, but it’s been instrumental to my career and in my personal life.
Just don’t send that email in the moment, it’s not worth it- I’ve recently made an “anger twitter”, which is fun. I’m not sure that I’ll ever be the person who can just not get angry, that’s why they call it “Anger Management”, and not “Anger Cure”.
